Sir – Has Wantage council yellow paint for double yellow lines for its major roads around the town?
What with Mill Street closed, all cars now have to go via Ormond Road where parking causes a narrow two-way passage that cars have difficulty to navigate.
Both Harcourt and Ham Road allow parking so cars have to weave in and out sometimes not being able to see ahead. Other towns have a strict double yellow lines on main routes around towns.
One idea is to only allow parking 6pm to 8am, meaning residents have night parking but freeing up routes. I lived in the centre of a big city but still had a car which I had to park sometimes a few streets away.
That was known when I purchased the property. It seems that since most households have up to three cars they all want to park near where they live, so clutter up the roads, making it impossible to have a smooth journey.
Please enforce yellow lines and make Wantage a more car-friendly town.
